Translucent Powder Glass African Trade Beads - 14mm, 21" Strand
Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of our new translucent powder glass African trade beads, handmade by the skilled artisans of Kroboland, Ghana. These exquisite beads are designed to imitate the classic old Venetian glass trade beads, offering a blend of traditional African artistry and historical charm.
- Strand Length: Approximately 21" (53 cm)
- Bead Size: Approximately 14 mm in diameter
Each bead is meticulously crafted from recycled glass bottles and other glass items. The glass is crushed into a fine powder, then carefully placed into molds to create these stunning beads. The entire process is done by hand, ensuring each bead is unique and carries the personal touch of the artisan.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
The technique used by the Krobo people to produce these beads is a testament to their rich cultural heritage. Recycled glass is transformed through traditional methods into vibrant beads that are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. The importance of trade beads in Ghana and Africa cannot be overstated; they have been used for centuries as a form of currency, in rituals, and as symbols of status and identity.
