The Legacy of Venetian Chevron Beads
Known also as Rosetta beads, antique Chevron beads were born in Venice, Italy, beginning in the 15th century. Crafted on the island of Murano, they were made by layering different colors of glass into a cane, then grinding and polishing the ends to create the signature starburst or striped chevron pattern.
These beads were treasured across West Africa and used in trade, ceremonies, and personal adornment. Their artistry, age, and cultural journey make them a prized possession for bead collectors and historians worldwide.
