Rare Antique Venetian Millefiori Mosaic Glass Trade Beads – African Trade Beads
Rare Antique Venetian Millefiori Mosaic Glass Trade Beads – African Trade Beads
No reviews
These three beautiful and rare matching antique Venetian millefiori mosaic glass trade beads are a remarkable find from the early 1900s. Originally crafted in Venice, these vibrant beads were widely used in African trade, particularly in regions like Ghana and across West Africa.
- Size: 13 x 11 mm
- Condition: Very good, with very light chipping at the ends (please refer to photos).
The meticulous technique used to create these beads is known as the millefiori or mosaic method, where colored glass canes are fused and sliced into intricate patterns, making each bead a work of art. These Venetian beads hold a significant place in the history of African trade, especially in Ghana, where they were exchanged for goods and played a role in cultural exchanges.
