These rare Venetian millefiori beads, also known as mosaic beads, were made using a centuries-old technique that involves layering glass canes to create intricate floral or geometric patterns. These beads were highly prized in West Africa, particularly in Ghana, where they were used as currency and symbols of wealth in trade.
