History and Significance of Venetian Chevron Beads
Chevron beads-also called Rosetta beads-originated in Venice in the late 15th century and were primarily produced on the island of Murano. Crafted through the cane drawing technique, multiple layers of colored glass were fused, pulled into canes, and then sliced and ground to reveal their intricate star patterns.
Beads like these were traded extensively throughout Africa, especially in the early 1800s. Their symbolic and economic value made them treasured possessions in many cultures. Green Chevrons are among the rarest color variations, adding even more historical and collectible value to this stunning pair.
