Rare Old Yellow Bicone "King" Venetian Lampwork Glass Trade Beads

Introducing a beautiful matching pair of rare old yellow bicone "King" Venetian wound glass trade beads. These beads, known for their intricate trail decoration, represent the finest craftsmanship from the late 1800s to early 1900s, originally made in Venice and traded in Africa. Their striking yellow hue and bicone shape make them a true collector's piece.

  • Size: 14 x 13 mm
  • Condition: Very good with minor decoration loss (see photos)

Crafted using the traditional lampwork technique, each bead is made by carefully winding molten glass around a mandrel, a method perfected in Venice. These glass beads played a significant role in the African trade, especially in Ghana and other regions of West Africa, where they were highly valued as currency and symbols of status. The trade beads hold a rich history, connecting the artisans of Venice with the vibrant markets of Africa.
