Millefiori beads, also known as mosaic beads, were meticulously handmade in Venice, Italy, using a centuries-old lampworking technique. Layers of colored glass rods, or canes, were fused together and sliced to reveal intricate floral and geometric patterns, which were then molded into bead shapes. These exquisite creations were highly sought after for their artistic appeal and were widely traded in Africa, particularly in Ghana, where they held significant cultural and economic value.

Today, these antique trade beads are prized collectibles, offering a glimpse into the rich history of global trade and cross-cultural exchange.
