💎 History, Value & Craftsmanship
Chevron beads, or Rosetta beads, have been produced in Venice since the late 15th century. Crafted on the glassmaking island of Murano, they are made using the drawn glass technique, where multiple colored glass layers are fused, pulled into canes, and then cut into segments. The ends are ground to reveal the intricate star pattern within. These beads were especially prized in the African trade, often functioning as currency or ceremonial adornments.
The small size and excellent layering of these antique beads make this strand a rare and desirable example of early Venetian trade craftsmanship.
