💎 History, Value & Craftsmanship
Chevron beads-also known as Rosetta beads-have been produced in Venice since the late 15th century, primarily on the island of Murano. Made using the drawn glass technique, layers of different colored glass are fused together, drawn into rods, and then cut and ground to reveal intricate star or stripe patterns. These beads were used in African trade throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries and were considered high-value items due to their detailed craftsmanship and cultural symbolism.
This rare strand of round striped 4-layer Chevrons represents both the elegance of Venetian artistry and the rich history of global trade.
