Known by many names - Antique Chevron beads, Rosetta beads, Old Chevron beads, Venetian Chevron beads, and Chevron glass beads - these antique trade beads were made using a meticulous layering process. Multiple layers of colored glass were fused together, then drawn into long canes. Once cooled, the canes were cut and ground to reveal the star-shaped chevron pattern on both ends.
These beads played a vital role in the African trade of the early 1900s, often used as currency or for ceremonial purposes. Their fine craftsmanship, vibrant green coloration, and historical importance make them highly desirable to both collectors and jewelry designers today.
