These Venetian Chevron beads, also known as Rosetta beads, were handmade using the multi-layer glass cane method in Murano, Venice. The "Dog Bone" shape adds to their uniqueness, with their hourglass form being highly sought-after among collectors. Each bead was crafted by layering molten colored glass, then cut and polished to reveal intricate star patterns. These beads were a major part of trade in West Africa, often exchanged for gold, ivory, and other valuables.
Chevron beads hold immense cultural and historical value, especially pieces like these from the early 20th century. Their rarity, craftsmanship, and role in African trade history make them prized collectibles today.
