The Art of Krobo Bead Making
The Krobo people have honed the art of bead-making over generations. The process begins with crushed glass, which is shaped in molds. The beads are meticulously decorated using a combination of powdered glass, natural dyes, and tools to paint or etch intricate patterns. This attention to detail ensures that each bead is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Once decorated, the beads are fired in a traditional kiln. High temperatures fuse the glass powder and set the designs, resulting in durable, vibrant beads ready to adorn your creations. These beads not only celebrate Ghanaian artistry but also reflect the rich history of African trade beads, which have been treasured for centuries across the continent and beyond.
