African Trade Beads 6mm Fancy Powder Glass Strand – Ghana Made
Bring a touch of tradition and artistry to your designs with this stunning strand of powder glass African beads, meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans in Kroboland, Ghana. These beads are inspired by the classic Venetian fancy trade beads, offering a rich connection to history with a contemporary African twist.
The beads are made using a sustainable process where bottles and other glass items are recycled into powder, which is then poured into molds to create these exquisite beads.
Bead Details:
- Strand Length: Approximately 26 inches (67 cm)
- Bead Size: Approximately 6 mm in diameter
Each bead is completely handmade, ensuring a unique touch that celebrates the artistry of Kroboland.
Technique:
The people of Krobo in Ghana have perfected a remarkable technique to produce these one-of-a-kind beads. Recycled glass is ground into a fine powder and poured into clay molds. After adding intricate designs using glass fragments or natural dyes, the molds are fired in traditional kilns. This process fuses the glass and sets the vibrant designs permanently, creating a durable and beautiful product.
Decoration:
What sets these fancy beads apart is the careful attention to detail. Artisans hand-decorate each bead with precise patterns and vivid colors, often etching or painting motifs with simple tools. These decorations echo the intricate beauty of traditional Venetian trade beads, giving them a timeless appeal.
Firing:
The beads are fired at high temperatures in a kiln, where the glass powder transforms into solid, luminous beads. This process not only enhances the durability of the beads but also brings out their stunning, glossy finish.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
