Handmade Multicolor Beaded Glass Necklace with African Trade Beads

Discover the beauty of African craftsmanship with this handmade beaded glass necklace, featuring a stunning mix of new translucent powder glass beads in vibrant shades of blue, green, orange, and amber, complemented by Ashanti/Akan brass beads. This exquisite piece is strung on a durable 1.5mm Korean cord, blending tradition with contemporary style.

  • Necklace Length: 23" (58.5 cm)
  • Glass Bead Size: 11 - 13 mm in diameter
  • Brass Bead Size: 28 x 10 x 7 mm
  • Bead Colors: Blue, Green, Orange, Amber, and Black

The brass bead is meticulously crafted in the Ashanti region of Ghana using the ancient "lost wax" technique. Each bead is formed in a handmade wax mold, which is then destroyed to unveil the final metal piece, ensuring every bead is truly unique.

The vibrant glass beads, originating from the Krobo people of Ghana, are made using a sustainable technique. Recycled glass bottles and other materials are crushed into fine powder, placed into molds, and fired in a traditional firewood kiln. This process, perfected over generations, results in exquisite beads that embody both culture and sustainability.

Trade beads hold significant historical importance in Africa, symbolizing wealth, status, and cultural exchange. These beads were once used in trade routes across the continent and remain an integral part of African artistry today.

YOUR NECKLACE WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE ONE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
