Explore the beauty of authentic African trade beads with this stunning strand of translucent Krobo glass beads, handcrafted by the skilled artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These beads masterfully imitate the appearance of old Venetian glass trade beads, offering a unique blend of tradition and artistry.
- Strand Length: 20 3/4" (52.5 cm)
- Bead Size: 11 - 13 mm in diameter
Each bead is created from recycled glass bottles and other glass items, crushed into a fine powder. This powder is then carefully placed into molds and fired to produce these beautiful, eco-friendly beads. The entire process is done by hand, ensuring each bead is unique and of the highest quality.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
The art of making recycled glass beads is a long-standing tradition among the people of Krobo in Ghana. By transforming discarded glass into beautiful beads, the artisans not only preserve their rich cultural heritage but also contribute to sustainable practices.
These beads play a significant role in African trade, symbolizing both the economic and cultural exchange across the continent.
