Large Green 4-Layer Venetian Chevron Beads – Antique 15mm Set
This is a beautiful set of five old large-size 4-layer Venetian Chevron beads in a vibrant green color, made using the traditional drawn glass technique. These striking beads are original antique trade beads from the early 1900s, crafted in Murano, Venice, and traded extensively in West Africa.
Their bold size and deep green tone make them a standout selection for both collectors and designers looking for rare, authentic components with historical significance.
- Size: 14–15 mm in length x 8–9 mm in diameter
- Condition: Excellent – beads are well-preserved and clean with no major damage
These Antique Venetian Chevron beads - also referred to as Old Chevron beads, Chevron glass beads, Rosetta beads, and Venetian Chevron trade beads - were created by layering molten glass of different colors, typically forming a rosette or star pattern. After layering, the glass was drawn into long rods (canes), sliced, and ground at both ends to reveal the iconic Chevron points.
The green color variation, especially in a large size, is highly desirable among bead collectors. Historically, these beads were part of Africa’s vibrant trade systems, used for adornment, ceremonial purposes, and as a form of currency. Today, they represent both a unique art form and a tangible piece of global history.
