The glass beads are meticulously handmade by the Krobo artisans of Ghana, following a centuries-old bead-making tradition. These talented artisans recycle glass bottles and other glass items, crushing them into a fine powder before placing the material into clay molds. The molds are then fired in a wood-burning kiln, resulting in stunningly vibrant, translucent beads.
Trade beads hold significant historical importance in Africa, once used as a currency in trans-Saharan trade. Today, they continue to be symbols of heritage, culture, and artistry.
