Discover the vibrant artistry of Vibrant African Trade Powder Glass Beads, meticulously handcrafted by the skilled artisans of Kroboland, Ghana. This exquisite strand is a beautiful imitation of old Venetian EYE trade beads, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of West Africa.

  • Strand Length: 26 1/4" (67 cm)
  • Bead Size: 10 - 11 mm in diameter

These stunning beads are made from recycled bottles and other glass items, which are ground into powder and carefully molded to create their unique shapes. Each bead is 100% handmade, ensuring that your strand will be identical to the one shown in the photograph (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Artisanal Technique

The people of Krobo in Ghana have perfected the art of making these fancy glass beads. Using a combination of glass fragments, powdered glass, and natural dyes, the artisans craft intricate patterns and vibrant designs. Metal or wooden tools are employed to etch or paint detailed motifs onto the beads.

Firing Process

The decorated beads are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This process fuses the glass powder and sets the designs in place, giving the beads their final, striking form.

Trade beads have long held significant cultural and economic importance in Ghana and throughout Africa. These beads are not only a symbol of trade and communication but also a testament to the artistic heritage passed down through generations.
