Introducing a stunning strand of large African trade beads, expertly handcrafted from recycled glass by the talented artisans of Kroboland, Ghana. These beautiful disks are made from tiny seed glass beads, transformed through traditional methods into unique, eco-friendly pieces that carry the rich cultural heritage of West Africa.
- Strand Length: 21 3/4" (55 cm)
- Bead Size: 13 - 14 mm in diameter
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
Each bead is meticulously crafted using recycled glass fragments, which are collected, cleaned, and broken into small pieces. These fragments are then placed into clay molds that define their shape and size. The molds are fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the glass fragments together while preserving their original colors and translucency. This method results in vibrant, variegated beads with a unique, translucent appearance.
Krobo beads are not only beautiful but also culturally significant. They are often used in ceremonies and symbolize status and identity within Ghanaian society. These recycled glass beads are a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Krobo people, making them a perfect addition to any jewelry collection or craft project.
