Discover the rich heritage of Ghana with this exquisite strand of large bicone brass beads, handcrafted by the skilled artisans of the Ashanti/Asante tribes in West Africa. Each bead is uniquely made using the ancient "Lost Wax" technique, a testament to the artisanal craftsmanship and cultural history of the region.
- Strand Length: Approximately 19 1/2 inches (58 cm) from bead to bead
- Bead Dimensions: Approximately 22 mm in length and 22 mm in diameter
Each bead begins as a hand-carved wax model, which is then encased in a clay mold. The wax is melted and drained away, leaving a hollow mold that is filled with molten brass. Once the metal cools, the mold is broken, revealing the bead—meaning no two beads are exactly alike. This labor-intensive process ensures that each bead is a unique piece of art.
